Frosty Drops Beanie Free Crochet Pattern

Today i am bringing you the Frosty Drops Beanie crochet pattern.
The best part about this beanie is that it works up fairly quickly and will keep you warm during the colder months.

Materials Used:

  • DK weight yarn ( I used Audine Wools Halo DK weight, 216 metres – 100 grams, 50% – Alpaca, 30% Wool – Merino, 20% Manufactured Fibers - Nylon / Polyamide).
  • 55 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 5mm (US size H8) crochet hook.
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker


Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Size:

The pattern is written in one size (M – 54 -56 cm (21.6 - 22.4 inches)) which will fit an average adult. You can size the beanie up or down by changing a yarn weight as well as using a different crochet hook.

Pattern Notes:

  • The beanie is crocheted in the round.
  • It is  worked from the top down.
  • Ch2 at the beginning of each round (except for the Round 22 – 27) counts as the first hdc.
  • Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2 at the end of each round (except for the Round 22 – 27).




Gauge:

7 stitches  x 5,5 rows = 5cm (2 inches) in half double crochet.

Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
sl st. – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
hdc2tog – 2 half double crochet closed together
dc – double crochet

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.

dc4popcorn -  4 double crochet popcorn stitch – work 4dc into same stitch. Drop loop from the hook, insert your hook from front to back into the first dc. Place dropped loop on the hook and pull through stitch.
 

 


Instructions:

Start with a magic (adjustable) ring or ch4 and join with a sl st.into first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: ch2, 10hdc into the ring. (11)

Round 2: ch2, 1hdc into the base of that ch2, 2hdc into each st. around. (22)

Round 3: ch2, 1hdc into the base of that ch2, 1hdc into next st.,
(2hdc into next st., 1hdc into next st.)* repeat 10 times around. (32)

Round 4: ch2, 1hdc into the base of that ch2, 1hdc into next 2 sts,
(2hdc into next st., 1hdc into next 2 sts)* repeat 10 times around. (44)

Round 5: ch2, 1hdc into each st.around. (44)

Round 6: ch2, 1hdc into the base of that ch2,
(1hdc into next 3 sts, 2hdc into next st.)* repeat 9 times around,
1hdc into next 2 sts, 2hdc into last st. (56)



Round 7 - 10: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (56)

Round 11: ch2, 1hdc into next 2 sts, dc4popcorn into next st.,
(1hdc into next 3 sts, dc4popcorn into next st.)* repeat 13 times around. (56)

Round 12: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (56)

Round 13: ch2, 1hdc into next st., dc4popcorn into next st.,
(1hdc into next 7 sts, dc4popcorn into next st.)* repeat 6 times, 1hdc into next 5 sts. (56)

Round 14 – 15: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (56)

Round 16: ch2, 1hdc into next st., dc4popcorn into next st.,
(1hdc into next 3 sts, dc4popcorn into next st.)* repeat 13 times, 1hdc into last st. (56)

Round 17: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (56)



Round 18: ch2, dc4popcorn into next st.,
(1hdc into next 7 sts, dc4popcorn into next st.)* repeat 6 times, 1hdc into next 6 sts. (56)

Round 19 – 21: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (56)

Round 22: ch1, 1sc into the base of that ch1, 1sc into each st. around. (56)


Rounds 23 - 27 are worked in continuous spirals without joining the rounds with a sl st.: 1sc into back loop of each st. around.

Use a stitch marker to mark the first or last stitch of a round to keep track.






Finish with a sl st. into first sc of the previous round.

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off.

Weave in all ends using a yarn needle.
