Crochet Aster Flower Doily - Free Pattern

I am delighted to introduce you to my Aster Flower Doily crochet pattern.

Written Pattern:

Size: The doily measures approx. 28 cm (11 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials Used:
  • Sport weight yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Nako Fiore 25% linen, 35% cotton, 40% bamboo yarn in the colorway 11526 (Pink Coral). 25 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.


Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet
dc2(3)tog – 2 or 3 double crochet closed together
trc5(6)tog – 5 or 6 treble crochet closed together  

ch3picot -  ch3, insert the hook into first ch (into 3rd ch from the hook), yarn over, pull the yarn through all loops on hook. 

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.




Instructions:

Start with ch4, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring. 



Round 1: ch1, 8sc into the ring. Join with a sl st. into first sc. 

Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), dc2tog into same st., ch3, 
(dc3tog into next st., ch3)* repeat 7 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the dc2tog. 

Round 3: sl st. into next ch3 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 3dc into that same ch3 space, ch2, 
(4dc into next ch3 space, ch2)* repeat 7 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 4: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into same st., 1dc into next 2 sts, 2dc into next st., ch2, 
(skip ch2, 2dc into next st., 1dc into next 2 sts, 2dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 5: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into next 5 sts, ch2, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into next ch2 space, ch2, 
(1dc into next 6 sts, ch2, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into next ch2 space, ch2)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 6: ch4 (counts as a trc), trc5tog over next 5 dc sts, ch5, 5dc into next ch1 space, 
(ch5, trc6tog over next 6 dc sts, ch5, 5dc into next ch1 space)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with ch2 + 1dc on top of the trc5tog. 

Round 7: ch1, 1sc into that (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, trc5tog over next 5 sts, 
(ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, trc5tog over next 5 sts)* repeat 7 times around.  
Join with ch2 + 1dc into first sc. 



Round 8: ch1, 1sc into that (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 
(ch7, 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with ch3 + 1trc into first sc.

Round 9: ch1, 1sc into that (ch3 + 1trc) space of the previous round, ch8, 
(1sc into next ch7 space, ch8)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with a sl st. into first sc. 


Round 10: sl st. into next 2 ch sts of ch8, ch4 (counts as a trc), ch2, 1trc into that same ch8 space, (ch2, 1trc)* repeat 4 times into that same ch8 space, ch1, 1sc into next ch8 space, ch1, 
((1trc, ch2)* repeat 5 times into next ch8 space, 1trc into that same ch8 space, ch1, 1sc into next ch8 space, ch1)* repeat 11 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch4. 

Round 11: sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), dc2tog into that same ch2 space, ch1, ch3picot, ch1, (dc3tog, ch1, ch3picot, ch1)* repeat into each of next 3 ch2 spaces, dc3tog into next ch2 space, ch1, 
((dc3tog, ch1, ch3picot, ch1)* repeat into each of next 4 ch2 spaces, dc3tog into next ch2 space, ch1)* repeat 11 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the dc2tog. 

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
