Tea Party Coaster Free Crochet Pattern

Written Pattern:


Size: The coaster measures approx. 13 cm (5.2 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate.


Materials Used:

  • Fingering weight cotton yarn, size 1 - super fine. I used Alize Bella yarn in the colorways  613 (Pink blush) and 28 (Rose). 7 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet

ch3picot - ch3, insert your hook into the center of the base stitch (or, insert the hook into the first ch), yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.



Instructions:

Start with ch4, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring. 

Round 1: ch2 (counts as a hdc), 11hdc into the ring.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2. 

Round 2: ch2 (counts as a hdc), ch1,  
(1hdc into next st., ch1)* repeat 11 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2. 

Round 3: sl st. into next ch1 space, ch2 (counts as a hdc), 1hdc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
(2hdc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 11 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2. 


Round 4: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch1 space, ch2 (counts as a hdc), 2hdc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
(3hdc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 11 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2. 

Round 5: sl st. into next 2 sts, sl st. into next ch1 space, ch2 (counts as a hdc), 2hdc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
(3hdc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 11 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2. 

Ch1, cut off the yarn and fasten off (Skip this step when continuing with the same yarn!). 

Round 6: Join the new yarn to any of ch1 spaces or continue with the same yarn by working  a sl st. into next 2 sts and a sl st. into next ch1 space. 
ch3 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc) into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
((2dc, ch2, 2dc) into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 11 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 7: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch3picot, 2dc, ch3picot, 2dc, ch3picot, 2dc) into that same ch2 space, ch1, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch1, 
((2dc, ch3picot, 2dc, ch3picot, 2dc,ch3picot, 2dc) into next ch2 space, ch1, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 11 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in all ends.
