Coral Doily - Free crochet Pattern

Long Autumn evenings are just the perfect time to sit down and learn how to crochet a new doily.
It is an easy and simple pattern to create, and it's suitable for those who are familiar with the basic stitches.

Written Pattern:

Size: The doily measures approximately 27cm (10.6 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Materials Used: 

  • Fingering weightsize 1 - super fine cotton yarn. I used Alize Bella cotton yarn in the colorway 619 (coral). 22 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3 mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or you can use a crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):
st. - stitch
sl st. - slip stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet

ch3picotch3, insert your hook into the center of the base stitch (or, insert the hook into first ch), yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.


Instructions:

Start with ch5 and join with a sl st. into first sc to form a ring.


Round 1: ch2 (counts as a hdc), 15hdc into the ring. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2. 

Round 2: ch1, 1sc into same st., ch3, 
(skip 1 st., 1sc into next st., ch3)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into first sc. 

Round 3: sl st. into next ch3 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc) into that same ch3 space, ch1, 
((2dc, ch2, 2dc) into next ch3 space, ch1)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 4: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc) into that same ch2 space, ch3, 
((2dc, ch2, 2dc) into next ch2 space, ch3)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 5: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc) into that same ch2 space, ch5, 
((2dc, ch2, 2dc) into next ch2 space, ch5)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 6: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc) into that same ch2 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 
((2dc, ch2, 2dc) into next ch2 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 7: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc) into that same ch2 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, ((2dc, ch2, 2dc) into next ch2 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5)* repeat 7 times around. Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3. 

Round 8: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), (2dc, ch1, 3dc) into that same ch2 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, 
(ch5, (3dc, ch1, 3dc) into next ch2 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space, ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with ch2 + 1dc on top of the ch3. 

Round 9: ch1, 1sc into that (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 
(ch5, 1sc) into each of ch1 spaces and ch5 spaces around. 
Join with ch2 + 1dc into first sc. 

Round 10: ch1, 1sc into that (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 
(ch5, 1sc) into each of ch5 spaces around. 
Join with ch2 + 1dc into first sc. 

Round 11: ch1, 1sc into that (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 7dc into next ch5 space, 
(1sc into next ch5 space, 7dc into next ch5 space)* repeat 19 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into first sc. 


Round 12: sl st. into next st., ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1, (1dc, ch1)* repeat into next 5 sts, 1dc into next st., 
(skip 1 st., (1dc, ch1)* repeat into next 6 sts, 1dc into next st.)* repeat 19 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3 (into 3rd ch). 

Round 13: sl st. into next ch1 space, ch1, 1sc nto that same ch1 space, (1sc, ch3picot, 1sc)* repeat into each of next 4 ch1 spaces, 1sc into next ch1 space, 1sc between next 2 sts. 
(1sc into next ch1 space, (1sc, ch3picot, 1sc)* repeat into each of next 4 ch1 spaces, 1sc into next ch1 space, 1sc between next 2 sts)* repeat 19 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into first sc.

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
