Cut the yarn, thread the end into the yarn needle. Join the round by sewing through the first st. of the round, then through the last st. of the round and then again through the first st. Fasten off. Sew in all ends.

The handle strap:

Ch 3,

Row 1: Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook into last ch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).

Row 2: Drop 2 loops off the hook (1 loop left on hook).
Hold the dropped loops with your non-hook hand firmly to stop them from coming undone.
Yarn over and pull through remaining loop on hook.
Insert hook into first dropped loop, yarn over and pull through (2 loops on hook). Insert hook into last dropped loop, yarn over and pull through (3 loops on hook).

Repeat Row 2 until your handle strap is approx 140 cm (55'') long.
To finish off, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing (approx 20 cm (7 - 8'')).

Attach the strap.

The bag strap will be inserted through the gaps between 3dc shells of Round 24!

  1. Insert the strap into one of the gaps between 3dc shells from the outside of the bag to the inside.
  2. Skip 4 gaps, insert the strap from the inside to the outside through the 5th gap.
  3. Skip 1 gap, insert the strap from the outside of the bag to the inside through the 2nd gap.
  4. Skip 4 gaps, insert the strap from the inside to the outside through the 5th gap.
  5. Skip 5 gaps, insert the strap from the outside to the inside through the 6th gap.
  6. Skip 4 gaps, insert the strap from the inside to the outside through the 5th gap.
  7. Skip 1 gap, insert the strap from the outside of the bag to the inside through the 2nd gap.
  8. Skip 4 gaps, insert the strap from the inside to the outside through the 5th gap.

You can also place stitch markers to mark the gaps where you want your strap to be inserted. I layed my bag on a flat surface and placed stitch markers as shown in the picture below.

Sew the both ends of the strap together, fasten off.
