Puff Stitch Round Doily Placemat Crochet Pattern

I have been wanting to share my Puff Stitch Round Doily Placemat crochet pattern here on my blog for a while now. This pattern may not be for absolute beginners, it's more suitable for intermediate crocheters who are comfortable with a variety of stitches.

Written Pattern

Size: The doily measures approx. 35 cm (13,8'') in diameter.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials Used:

  • DK weight - size 3 yarn. I used Drops Cotton Light (50% cotton, 50% polyester) yarn in color 40. 2 skeins - 70 grams; 147 meters approx. of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3.5mm (US size E4) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in the ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

  • Abbreviations (US terms):

    st./sts - stitch / stitches
    sp./sps - space / spaces
    sk - skip
    sl st. - slip stitch
    ch - chain
    sc - single crochet
    hdc - half double crochet
    dc - double crochet

    puff - 4hdc together puff stitch - (Yarn over, insert your hook in indicated ch space, yarn over, pull the yarn through the ch space)* repeat 4 times.
    Now you should have 9 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all 9 loops.

    bpdc - back post double crochet - Yarn over, insert the hook from back to front to back around the post of the stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through remaining 2 loops on hook.


    (  )* - repeat instructions between the brackets as directed.






    Instructions


    Start with ch5 and sl st. in first ch to form a ring. Or, you can make a magic (adjustable) ring.

    Round 1: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 15dc in ring.
    Join with a sl st. in 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
    (16dc sts)

    Round 2: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2)
    (1dc in next st., ch2)* repeat 15 times around.
    Join with a sl st. in 3rd ch of beginning ch5.
    (16dc sts, 16 ch2 sps.)

    Round 3: sl st. in next ch2 sp., ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), puff in same ch sp., ch3,
    (sk next st., puff in next ch2 sp., ch3)* repeat 15 times around.
    Join with a sl st. on top of first puff.
    (16 puffs, 16 ch3 sps.)


    Round 4: sl st. in next ch3 sp., ch3 (counts as 1dc), 3dc in same ch3 sp.,
    (sk next st., 4dc in next ch3 sp.)* repeat 15 times around.
    Join with a sl st. in 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
    (64dc sts)

    Round 5: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2)
    (sk next st., 1dc in next st., ch2)* repeat 31 times around.
    Join with a sl st. in 3rd ch of beginning ch5.
    (32dc sts, 32 ch2 sps.)

    Round 6: sl st. in next ch2 sp., ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), puff in same ch sp., ch3,
    (sk next st., puff in next ch2 sp., ch3)* repeat 31 times around.
    Join with a sl st. on top of first puff.
    (32 puffs, 32 ch3 sps.)

    Round 7: sl st. in next ch3 sp., ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc in same ch3 sp.,
    (sk next st., 3dc in next ch3 sp.)* repeat 31 times around.
    Join with a sl st. in 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
    (96dc sts)

    Round 8: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2)
    (sk next st., 1dc in next st., ch2)* repeat 47 times around.
    Join with a sl st. in 3rd ch of beginning ch5.
    (48dc sts, 48 ch2 sps.)

    Round 9: sl st. in next ch2 sp., ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), puff in same ch sp., ch3,
    (sk next st., puff in next ch2 sp., ch3)* repeat 47 times around.
    Join with a sl st. on top of first puff.
    (48 puffs, 48 ch3 sps.)

    Round 10: sl st. in next ch3 sp., ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc in same ch3 sp.,
    (sk next st., 3dc in next ch3 sp.)* repeat 47 times around.
    Join with a sl st. in 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
    (144dc sts)

    Round 11: ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), 1sc in same st., 
    (ch4, sk next 2 sts, 1sc in next st.)* repeat 47 times around.
    Ch1, 1dc in first sc st. (counts as last ch4).
    (48sc sts, 48 ch4 sps.)

    Round 12: ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), 1sc in same ch sp., sk next st., 8dc in next ch4 sp., sk next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp.,
    (ch4, sk next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp., sk next st., 8dc in next ch4 sp., sk next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp.)* repeat 15 times around.
    Ch1, 1dc in first sc st. (counts as last ch4).

    Round Crochet Doily - Free Written Pattern



    Hello Everyone!πŸ™‚

    I have an easy Round Doily crochet pattern for you today. It's made in only 15 rounds using sport weight mercerised 100% cotton yarn and a 3mm crochet hook. If you're looking for a nice gift idea, this doily might be the one to get your hands on. If you can crochet in the round and know how to work the basic crochet stitches, you are good to go.

    Written Pattern

    Size:
    The doily measures approximately 37cm (14,6 inches) in diameter.

    Skill Level:
    Easy to Intermediate - advanced beginner

    Materials Used:

    • Sport weight yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Madame Tricote Paris Camilla mercerised 100% cotton yarn. 125 meters (30 grams) of yarn needed for this pattern.
    • 3 mm crochet hook.
    • Scissors.
    • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.


    Abbreviations (US terms)
    st./sts - stitch / stitches
    sk - skip
    ch sp. - chain space
    ch - chain
    sl st. - slip stitch
    sc - single crochet
    dc - double crochet

    ch3picot – ch3, insert your hook in third ch from the hook, yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook. 

    (  )* - repeat instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.









    Instructions

    Start with a magic (adjustable) ring, or ch5 and sl st. in first ch to form a ring.

    Round 1: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 15dc in ring.

    Rectangular Table Runner - Free Crochet Pattern

    Today I have an easy Rectangle Table Runner crochet pattern to share with you. The pattern uses basic crochet stitches and is worked in rows (back and forth). All you need to start is a crochet hook and some yarn or thread in the color of your choice.

    Written Pattern

    Size: The table runner measures approx. 33 cm x 85 cm (13'' x 33,5'').

    Skill Level: Easy - advanced beginner

    Gauge: 9 stitches x 4 rows = 5 cm x 5 cm (2'' x 2'') in double crochet.

    Materials Used:

  • DK weight - size 3 yarn. I used Drops Cotton Light (50% cotton, 50% polyester) yarn in color 08. 4 skeins - 193 grams; 405 meters approx. of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3.5mm (US size E4) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in the ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

    Fringe (RS): turn, (1sc, ch30, 1sc) in each ch3 space until the end of the row.

    Fasten off, weave in the ends.
